We are seeking a Firmware Specialist to join our customer, a leading Energy and Utilities partner, to play a critical role in ensuring reliability and performance of industrial controls systems through effective firmware lifecycle management. This individual will have a strong background in firmware research, testing, and deployment as well as hands-on, detail-oriented, executing technical experience. If this sounds like you, apply today!
- Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to) :
- Research and evaluate firmware updates for industrial control devices (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, etc.).
- Develop and execute test plans to validate firmware functionality and compatibility in lab and field environments.
- Create detailed, user-friendly firmware upgrade procedures and documentation.
- Train field technicians and engineers on firmware upgrade processes, tools, and best practices.
- Work closely with engineering, IT, and operations teams to coordinate firmware rollouts and minimize downtime.
- Ensure all firmware activities comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements; maintain accurate records of firmware versions and upgrades.
- Required Skills :
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet / IP, Profibus, etc.).
- Experience with firmware testing tools, version control, and upgrade utilities.
- Excellent documentation and technical writing skills.
- Ability to train and support field personnel with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Preferred Skills
- SCADA systems and control system architecture experience.
- Cybersecurity best practices in firmware management experience.
- Certifications such as ISA, CompTIA, Rockwell, Siemens are a plus.

Pay : $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
