Global Sanctions Analyst

The Global Sanctions Analyst is responsible for administering the Bank's OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) program with regard to screening and reporting of designated individuals, businesses, and domestic and international transactions. This position is critical for protecting the company's reputation by ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the USA PATRIOT Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and FinCEN regulations.

You will analyze daily alerts generated from OFAC / Sanctions and other watch list screenings and make decisions on appropriate resolutions. You will analyze domestic and international transaction referrals from the lines of business to assess potential OFAC or Sanctions violations. You will conduct ongoing reconciliations and scrubs of customer data and periodic system testing of multiple vendor OFAC filtering systems used by the lines of business. You will review the banks client lists to identify and respond to FinCEN 314(a) requests in accordance with provisions outlined in the USA PATRIOT Act. You will maintain thorough documentation of analysis performed. You will participate in resolution of issues identified by Audit or regulators including the execution of new or changing BSA requirements. You will assist with Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) when needed. Referral coverage is provided until 5 : 30pm daily and work hours for this position are 8 : 30am 5 : 30pm.

Required level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associates' degree and two to three years of related work experience at a financial institution or equivalent work experience of 4-5 years. Experience in bank operations is preferred. A minimum of two hours of continuing education is required each month on industry-related topics or technical skills related to the role. Knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and USA Patriot Act regulations. Ability to understand and interpret OFAC directives outlined in country-based sanctions, including complex sanctions and multiple directives issued for Iran, Russia, Syria, and other high risk jurisdictional regions. Solid ability to identify risk related to import export transactions and related products, services, geography, and customer base. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in an operational / compliance driven environment. Ability to coordinate and work collaboratively with internal and external contacts daily. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking skills. Ability to research and source information from bank systems and third party databases. Strong computer skills and familiarity working with excel, csv, and text files. Ability to quickly learn to use various internal company systems.
