Standard Medsurg unit nursing skills

Description :

This position involves caring for patients in an inpatient rehabilitation facility.

The unit consists of 20 private beds with a total staff of approximately 60, including nursing and therapy personnel.

There are 18 RN full-time equivalents on the unit.

Patient-to-staff ratios are typically 5 : 1, and may sometimes be 6 : 1 if there are staffing shortages.

The role requires mobilization of patients for various activities such as bathroom use and out-of-bed mobility.

Daily medication distribution and education on medication reconciliation are key responsibilities.

Nursing care for discharging patients to home is also essential.

Candidates with prior experience in inpatient rehabilitation or skilled nursing are preferred.

Candidates should be outgoing, energetic, and fun.

There is a weekend rotation every other weekend.

Floating to medical-surgical units may be required.

Dress code is royal blue scrubs.
