Starting Salary : $42,600 - $73,320+, plus a sign-on stipend of $2,000 prorated based on start date. Additional lanes may be applied based on the position.

Position Summary
HCPA is a Title I Charter School serving students through a school-wide plan focused on the needs of at-risk students. The High School Special Education Teacher is responsible for instructing high school students (grades 9-12) with special needs. Create a flexible classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth. Instruct students in grade-level content, adapting subjects based on reading and math skills per IEP plans. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for further education.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to due process guidelines using district-recommended methods and instruments to evaluate and identify students' special education needs, participate in team decisions regarding eligibility, and facilitate evaluation plans and reports.
- Serve as a case manager : develop and maintain IEPs; facilitate IEP meetings; provide parents / guardians with Rights and Procedural Safeguards information; develop and share progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality per data privacy laws (MN Government Data Practices Act, FERPA, HIPAA).
- Provide direct instruction to students with IEPs, helping them attain their goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers on curriculum planning and assessments.
- Support paraprofessionals in implementing IEP goals and manage resources.
- Maintain data to monitor student progress and communicate with parents.
- Advocate for students with disabilities.
- Develop and implement behavioral interventions based on FBA results.
- Utilize techniques to maintain a safe environment (e.g., MANDT, CPI).
- Participate in staff development and stay current with regulations and practices.
- Collaborate with related service providers and outside agencies.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
- Provide instruction in core curriculum areas, utilizing instructional resources and technology.

Requirements
Current MN teaching license in relevant special education areas.3+ years of teaching experience.Knowledge of due process procedures, instructional technologies, and current research.Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners and implement evidence-based practices.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with diverse ethnic backgrounds in urban settings.Other Information
