The responsibility of the Warehouse Team Lead is to ensure all operations / processes are performed accurately and efficiently. In the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Lead will act with the authority of the supervisor. The Warehouse Lead will foster a teamwork environment in support of the company's financial and operational goals. Also responsible for coordinating and optimizing daily warehouse operations through effective wave management.
Essential functions include : maintaining a clean and safe work environment, checking with operations management on a daily basis to determine shift priorities / tasks, assigning work and work zones to pickers, loaders, and forklift operators, monitoring their actions throughout the schedule, serving as the primary trainer of full-time and temporary employees, performing as a "working lead" and is required to perform all assigned tasks and achieve minimum performance standards, providing timely and effective communication to management for any performance or operational issues, conducting appropriate safety and equipment training and inspections, communicating findings to management, analyzing daily order volume and prioritizing workload based on customer requirements, routes, and shipping deadlines, creating, releasing, and monitoring waves within the WMS to optimize picking efficiency and resource allocation, adjusting waves dynamically to accommodate late orders, add-ons, or carrier schedule changes, collaborating with IT or WMS administrators to troubleshoot wave-related errors or bottlenecks, serving as the main point of contact between warehouse operations, routing / transportation, and customer service teams for wave release status, communicating wave completion, delays, or issues impacting delivery schedules, supporting end-of-day reconciliation and ensuring all waves are closed in accordance with company policy, arriving to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled, and meeting agreed-upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner.
Other functions include : demonstrating ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and all other duties as assigned by management.
Working conditions include : warehouse environment; may be subjected to loud noise, temperature and weather extremes. Occasional overtime may be required as per the business needs.
Equipment / machinery used includes : office equipment (to include computer, fax, photocopier, calculator, and telephone), RF handheld equipment, pallet jacks, forklifts, cherry picker, reach truck, voice pick system, and time clock.
Physical requirements include : manual dexterity, visual acuity, reaching, bending, standing, sitting, and frequent lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
Minimum requirements include : high school diploma or GED, associates degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred, ability to obtain forklift and motorized jack pallet certification within one month of hire; certified forklift operator preferred, 24 years of experience in warehouse operations or logistics, with at least 1 year using a WMS (Korber or Acellos preferred), proficiency in WMS systems, Excel, and reporting tools, ERP experience (Business Central or Navision preferred), understanding of order management, picking methodologies (batch, zone, cluster), and inventory accuracy principles, demonstrated computer skills, and demonstrated effective communication skills.
