Distribution System Planning Engineer

We are seeking a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Distribution System Planning Engineer to help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our electric distribution system. This role plays a key part in analyzing current system performance, forecasting future needs, and developing engineering solutions that support long-term growth and grid modernization. Location : Work for this position can be performed both on-site at our campus located at 14601 Ramsey Blvd, Ramsey, MN 55303, and from your local home office as duties require. While this position is designated as a hybrid role, based on current policy, hires must reside in or relocate within commuting distance to our office in Ramsey, MN. Compensation : The anticipated hiring range for this role is between $98,600 to $129,465 annually. The final compensation offered is based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience and skill level. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 8% of annual earnings based on company performance. In this position you will : Perform or coordinate distribution engineering studies to ensure system capacity and asset health are adequate when considering future load growth and aging infrastructure. Review / produce designs of system replacement projects, plats, system improvements projects, automation, and road construction projects to ensure the projects are incorporated into the overall system plan. Recommend and document system improvements, replacements, and configuration changes for capital budgeting justification. Assist in scheduling and budgeting of capital projects. Act as a technical resource of the electrical distribution system. Provide a forward-looking viewpoint as projects are developed. Need to have : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems emphasis Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Minnesota Five or more years related work experience Current and valid driver’s license Nice to have : Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Business Pre-Employment Requirement : Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
