About the Role :

The Mammography Technician plays a critical role in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases by performing high-quality mammographic imaging procedures in an outpatient clinic setting. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure accurate imaging results that assist radiologists in making informed clinical decisions. The technician will interact compassionately with patients, providing clear instructions and support to ensure comfort and cooperation during the procedure. They are responsible for maintaining and calibrating mammography equipment to meet safety and quality standards. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to patient care by facilitating timely and accurate breast cancer screening and diagnostic services.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • REQUIRED- Completion of an accredited radiologic technologist program with certification in mammography.
  • Current state licensure or certification as required for mammography technicians.
  • Knowledge of mammography equipment operation and safety protocols.
  • Experience working in an outpatient clinical environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Additional certifications such as ARRT Mammography certification.
  • Experience with digital mammography and advanced imaging technologies.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Training in patient care and comfort techniques specific to breast imaging.
  • Continuing education in breast imaging and radiation safety.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Perform mammographic imaging procedures according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and position patients appropriately to obtain clear and accurate breast images.
  • Operate and maintain mammography equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated, and functioning properly.
  • Review images for quality and completeness before submission to radiologists for interpretation.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and document procedures accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Provide patient education regarding the mammography process and address any concerns or questions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and follow-up appointments.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards to protect patients and staff.
  • Skills :

    The required skills in outpatient clinic operations and mammography are essential for performing precise imaging procedures and managing patient flow efficiently. Daily work involves using mammography equipment to capture high-quality images while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Effective communication skills are utilized to explain procedures and alleviate patient anxiety.
