Job Title : Toolmaker

Position Summary
The Tool Maker role is responsible to design, build or repair dies, jigs, measurement tools and machining fixtures, necessary to support the manufacturing operations of the Company.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Build molds, fixtures or related tools and completes tooling repairs and revisions.
- Setup and operate tool-room equipment needed to build, repair, revise and service molds, fixtures and related tools in a correct and timely manner.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequence of operations to fabricate product.
- Utilize CAD / CAM software to generate numerical control programs for the operation of mills and lathes.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify tooling, such as jigs, fixtures, templates, and molds or dies to produce parts and assemblies.
- Uses precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers and gage tools.
- Repair tools, dies, fixtures and core boxes to specification of work instructions.
- Distinguish minute differences in materials, machine adjustments and repair techniques.
- Ensure work is properly done and mold is in operable condition before it is released to manufacturing.
- Clean, lubricates, and maintains machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
- Collaborate with Production and Quality Control to ensure that repairs are performed within specification and in a timely manner.
- Complete and maintain all department-related paperwork or electronic data in an orderly and timely manner.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, Physical Requirements) :
High school diploma or GED and a 2-year degree in Machine Tool Technology and / or similar work experience.Ability to read and understand work instructions and perform math computations and computer data entry.Ability to lift 40 lbs., climb a ladder up to 10 ft. and walk and stand during entire shift.Ability to perform repetitive pushing and sliding of mold plates and mold inserts.Periodically, this position requires repetitive hand, wrist, and grasping of objects with fingers for extended periods of time.Ability to visually detect quality defects.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods of time.Working knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma concepts and toolsJob Posted by ApplicantPro
