- JOB SUMMARY :
- The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Instructor / Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the college’s Medical Laboratory Technician program. This position combines instructional, administrative, and leadership responsibilities to ensure the program meets accreditation standards, prepares students for certification and employment, and reflects current trends and best practices in laboratory science.
The position provides instruction through both online and in-person formats, facilitates lab and clinical learning experiences, and supports student success through mentoring and academic guidance. Duties include evaluation of student achievement in specific content areas of medical laboratory technology curriculum including didactic instruction and supervision of hands-on labs. Content areas may include : Urinalysis & Body Fluids, Hematology / Hemostasis, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry. The MLT Instructor / program coordinator will develop curriculum, policy and procedures, and will assess program outcomes, provide employability skills and promote career awareness.
This coordinator also serves as a liaison with clinical partners, coordinating student placements and maintaining strong relationships with hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. The position reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and collaborates with college leadership to manage program budgets, support recruitment and retention efforts, and advance the institution’s mission to prepare students for meaningful careers in healthcare.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's Degree in related field and current certification such as ASCP as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist. Hold current ND licensure. Teaching experience in post-secondary education. Must be faculty qualified according to Lake Region State College policy.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Master's Degree in related field and current certification such as ASCP as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist. Hold current ND licensure. Three years teaching experience in post-secondary education. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are required.
- SALARY :
- $50,000 - $67,000, depending on education and experience.
