Director Of Plant Operations
Within the confines of good engineering / management practice, coordinates maintenance and repair work, whether in-house or contracted, ensuring safe, economic and dependable operation of resources and service in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards. The primary responsibility of the Director is to coordinate with contracted staff and work performed to maintain the hospital physical plant building interior systems, building and grounds. Also has primary responsibility for the coordination of contracted staff and work to maintain the hospital mechanical plumbing to include : heating plumbing systems, medical gas systems, domestic water systems, and fire protection systems, maintaining the plumbing systems in reliable energy efficient operation and good repair. The plant Director should ensure the physical plant and grounds are maintained in safe, good repair and to ensure the buildings and grounds physical appearance is maintained at the highest degree of quality possible.
Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, Engineering / Plant Operations, Security, Bio-Med, and Environmental Services (EVS). Reports to the COO / Administrator as the physical and structural conditions of GEMCH facilities and the status of work in progress.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in facilities maintenance.
Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) from the American Society of Healthcare Engineering preferred.
BS degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Extensive working knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and floor plans as they relate to plumbing, electrical, HVAC equipment, mechanical and building structure.
Organizational and mathematical skills including the ability to understand statistical data.
Well-developed skills in using computers.
Experience in training and teaching others.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in acute healthcare setting preferred.
