About Read Better Be Better RBBB is an education nonprofit addressing Arizona's literacy crisis. We connect young readers and youth leaders to inspire a love of literacy and leadership. Interns join a mission-driven, collaborative team and contribute meaningfully to programs that make a real impact.

Overview of Internship Role

The RBBB Community Engagement Intern will work cross-departmentally to identify opportunities for partnerships in the community to support our outreach and engagement. They will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives to support community outreach, opportunity engagement, and more. This role will include networking opportunities (including in person), partnership relations, and strategic communication. The Community Engagement Intern will work primarily in the Read Better Be Better office but will also be asked to attend community events to support the different departments in the organization.

Hours & Schedule

A weekly commitment of 8-15 hours is  required . Interns will be expected to commit to a set schedule within RBBB's main office hours of 8 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm, Monday to Friday.

February 2026

Program Duration

Internship positions are meant to be short-term and based around academic semesters and last for 3-4 months. We offer : Spring, Summer and Fall positions.

This internship is unpaid. Read Better Be Better is fully committed to providing eligible interns with all documentation necessary for them to receive course credit for their time with the organization, if they wish to do so.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and organizing community outreach events and initiatives
  • Help maintain relationships with community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders
  • Conduct research on community demographics, needs, and potential partnership opportunities
  • Assist in writing story telling campaigns to uplift community stories
  • Assist in providing collaboration support to other departments to ensure alignment of outreach strategies
  • Attend tabling and networking events to build community exposure and engagement
  • Perform other general duties as assigned

  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • Ability to travel to different events at different locations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and the able to manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable to take initiative independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Interested in the nonprofit sector
  • Preferred Qualifications & Experience (optional)

  • Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant degree program (communications, nonprofit management, community relations, etc.)
  • Understanding of the following platforms and applications :
  • Instagram
  • Microsoft 365 Suite
  • Salesforce
  • Ability to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Application & Screening Process

    Applications will be reviewed in November, with interviews in November / December. Selection made by December and candidates followed up with then.
