Job Description
Position Summary
The Principal plays a critical leadership role at ICEF, driving excellence across academics, culture, and operations at their school site. Reporting to the Chief of Schools, the Principal leads a transformational vision aligned to ICEFs strategic planensuring students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and graduate confident in their identities and prepared for college, career, and life. The Principal manages a team of instructional and operational leaders, fosters a safe and inclusive school culture, and partners closely with families and communities. Key Responsibilities
School Culture & Community Leadership
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate where students and staff feel respected, engaged, and connectedLead strategic planning to set and execute annual school priorities aligned to ICEFs mission and valuesPromote family engagement and build strong school-community partnershipsPartner with operations staff to ensure smooth enrollment, attendance, and logisticsSupport talent development and staff retention through effective supervision and team-buildingInstructional Leadership
Serve as the instructional leader, setting a vision for rigorous, standards-based instruction integrated with social-emotional learningCoach and manage instructional leaders and teachers using data-informed cycles and high-impact development strategiesLead implementation of ICEFs academic systems, including internalization, curriculum planning, intervention supports (MTSS), and special education integrationMonitor student achievement data and drive action toward closing opportunity gapsStrategic & Organizational Collaboration
Serve as a strategic partner to ICEFs Cabinet and Board, contributing to network-wide decision-making, planning, and progress monitoringManage the school budget in partnership with network leadership, ensuring alignment of resources to student outcomesSupport network-wide systems for talent forecasting, recruitment, and professional learningMinimum Qualifications
Bachelors degreeCalifornia Administrative Services Credential (or in progress)Valid California teaching or counseling credentialAt least 5 years of K-12 teaching or counseling experienceAt least 2 years of site-based leadership (e.g. Assistant Principal, Dean, Instructional Coach)Strong record of improving student outcomes, managing adult teams, and building school cultureExperience managing operations, systems, and budgetsDemonstrated commitment to equity, excellence, and student-centered leadershipPreferred Qualifications
Masters degreeExperience in school turnaround or transformation settingsDeep knowledge of instructional leadership and social-emotional learningFamiliarity with charter management organizations and LA education landscapeCompensation & Benefits
