We are seeking a dynamic and versatile professional to join our team in a unique hybrid role that combines Oracle Database Administration with modern infrastructure and DevOps engineering. Position can work remotely within the state of Wisconsin. Responsibilities : Database Administration (Approx. 40%) :
- Maintain, monitor, and tune on-premise Oracle 19c databases for performance, availability, and security.
- Perform routine database maintenance, backups, patching, and upgrades.
- Provide cross-functional support for Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Assist in planning and executing a potential upgrade to Oracle 23c and / or migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Collaborate with Application and Data Teams to support database-related aspects of project delivery.
- Serve as a technical liaison to ensure database architecture aligns with application requirements and performance standards, providing guidance and hands-on support throughout the development lifecycle. Infrastructure & DevOps (Approx. 60%) :
- Lead initiatives in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and support infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, ActiveBatch).
- Design and implement test automation environments and support hardware / software configuration.
- Research and prototype AI-driven infrastructure solutions to optimize performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with development teams to provide architectural guidance and infrastructure best practices.
- Drive adoption of CI / CD pipelines, observability tools, and modern DevOps practices. Additional Responsibilities : Qualifications : Required :
- 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA (preferably with Oracle 19c).
- Proficiency in SQL Server administration and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of Linux / Unix systems, shell scripting, and system-level troubleshooting.
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, or Azure).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred :
- Experience with Oracle 23c or planning cloud migrations.
- Experience with enterprise job scheduling platforms.
- Exposure to AI / ML infrastructure or research in AI-driven system optimization.
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. Compensation : $110,000 - $135,000 year based on experience
