POSITION SUMMARY :
Provide health care services to Harbor Light Detox and program clients, according to professional standards and The Salvation Army Harbor Light policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must possess one of the following valid Michigan Licenses : a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse
- Experience in the substance abuse field preferred
- Possess working knowledge of Occupation, Safety, and Health Administration standards and Universal Precautions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, and Email
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records systems preferred
- Possess good communication skills
- B Test and police clearance required
REPORTS TO : Medical Supervisor
JOB DUTIES :
Manage all inquires with regards to information, referral, and / or possible admission.Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services, schedule detoxification admissions according to Harbor Light admission criteriaConduct client admissions / discharges to detoxification and residential programs, including completion of all required medical documentsProvide general health care of clients which includes but is not necessarily limited to : a) administering and recording medications as prescribed by attending physicians, b) perform vital sign checks and document resultsTake appropriate action as directed by attending physician to ensure clients medical stability and in cases of emergency facilitate assistance per Harbor Light protocol.Assist Medical Director or designate in the provision of medical servicesWork with the treatment team to maintain order, discipline, and a substance free environmentAttend all required staff meetings; training sessions, seminars and / or workshops for staff developmentMaintain records, charts, logs and all other pertinent data for the medical unit on a daily basisRequest Authorization from SEMCA Medicaid referrals upon admission to programUnderstand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission StatementsPossess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and ProceduresAdditional duties and responsibilities as assignedHIPAA - Level 1 access to Clinical RecordsPHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS :
