Markey's, a multi-state leading provider of creative audio-visual services, is seeking a Full-Time Operations Coordinator to add to our expanding team based in the Des Moines, IA area. The Operations Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of Markey’s at the Iowa Events Center, ensuring events are executed efficiently and to the highest standards. This role oversees equipment management, labor scheduling, and on-site coordination of event technology services, while also providing technical expertise and troubleshooting support. The Operations Coordinator works closely with Account Managers, clients, and venue staff to deliver seamless event experiences and fosters strong working relationships across teams.
Currently hiring for a Full-Time, hourly (non-exempt) position, eligible for overtime! The shift and hours will vary depending upon business need, and some evening & weekend work is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise elements of the day-to-day Event Technology Operations at the property.
- Manage equipment storage, prep and inventory control.
- Manage process of scheduling labor for events both Iowa Events Center events (D27) and Des Moines Team events (D17), including technicians from other Markey’s locations and union labor as needed.
- Assist Director of Event Technology and Account Managers with preparing weekly Operations schedules at Iowa Events Center to ensure all events supported efficiently and effectively.
- Review daily schedule to ensure all functions are set and run smoothly.
- Effectively handle changes to equipment and labor needs daily.
- Perform responsibilities of the Event Technician role as needed.
- Provide work direction to event technicians / PRNs and follow-up with them to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Troubleshoot in-house A / V systems and other event technology services as needed.
- Work closely with Markey’s Account Managers and attend meetings with the property or clients as needed.
- Foster positive working relationships with Iowa Event Center staff, clients and union labor teams.
- Participate in onboarding and training of new PRN team members.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned to ensure success of Markey’s events.
Requirements
Must have a minimum of five years of previous audiovisual experienceStrong A / V skills including set-up, troubleshooting, operation, and explanation of equipment primarily in audio, video and lighting.Knowledge of or basic experience with rigging, power and specialty AV.General understanding of computers, MS software, printers, basic computer interfacing, computer networking, Outlook, and R2 (equipment reservation system).Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers, at all levels.Ability to follow directions and implement tasks.Experience with on-site coordination of staff and work processes.Prioritize and handle multiple tasks accurately, safely, and timely fashion.Handle stressful situations in a professional manner.Must possess a professional, positive attitude.An ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times.Become a part of our team!
