About the Role :

The Forklift Mechanic at Wetz Warehousing LLC plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all forklift equipment within our transportation and warehousing operations. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various forklift systems including propane and electric engines, suspension, axles, and differentials to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The mechanic will work closely with the maintenance team to perform routine inspections and address mechanical issues promptly, ensuring compliance with safety standards. This role demands a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and repairing heavy machinery, often requiring the lifting and carrying of heavy components. Ultimately, the Forklift Mechanic contributes to the overall operational success by maintaining reliable and safe equipment that supports the company’s logistics and warehousing functions.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Proven experience as a forklift mechanic with a strong understanding of forklift propane and electric engines and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy weights safely as part of daily job functions.
  • Possession of own set of mechanic tools necessary for performing repairs and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of suspension systems, differentials, axles, and pumps related to forklift operation.
  • Valid certification or training in forklift maintenance or automotive mechanics.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working in the transportation and warehousing industry.
  • Additional certifications in heavy equipment repair or engine technology.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards specific to warehouse equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for logging maintenance records and ordering parts.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on forklifts to identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to equipment failure.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems related to forklift engines, pumps, suspension systems, axles, and differentials.
  • Utilize own tools to conduct repairs and replacements of forklift components efficiently and safely.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse operations team to schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to daily workflows.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Skills :

    The required skills such as lifting and carrying heavy weights are essential for handling forklift components safely during repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of pumps, suspension systems, differentials, and axles is applied daily to diagnose and fix mechanical issues that affect forklift performance.
