Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a high-acuity, large-volume Level III trauma center with strong pediatric and critical care skills required.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Department of a Level III trauma center with 34 beds plus 12 hallway bedsServe a diverse patient population from neonate to geriatric, including pediatrics, behavioral health, stroke, and cardiac casesPatient ratios range from 1 : 3-5 based on acuity, with a 13-bed fast track zoneShifts are 12 hours, primarily days, with multiple day / evening variations as assignedWeekend rotation is required every other weekend, with flexibility needed for schedulingExpected to cover 1-2 holidays per contractNo floating to other units and no on-call requiredUses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips monitorsResponsible for drawing own labs, especially during night shiftsSupport staff includes ED techs, medical assistants, phlebotomy until 2300, advanced practice providers, and 24 / 7 securityHospital orientation includes NEO and 1-2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor while taking patient assignmentsScrub color is flexible, any color without logosFree parking is available on siteHoliday and weekend shifts are expected parts of the scheduleTeamwork is emphasized with a supportive charge nurse and dedicated ancillary staffRequirements
Active RN license requiredMinimum 3 years recent ED experience in a large-volume, high-acuity settingCurrent certifications : ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCCStrong emergency nursing skills including critical care, pediatric emergencies, triage, and trauma supportProficiency with chest tubes, arterial lines, blood administration, Bipap / ventilators, and splintingExperience with barcode scanning medication administration and managing medication dripsMust pass hospital's Triage Test before being allowed to triageEpic EMR experience strongly recommendedFirst-time travelers will not be consideredBenefits
