Lead Materials Handler

The Lead Materials Handler is responsible for verifying all loads for accuracy, operate forklifts safely, performing rotating loading and unloading duties as assigned. They will assist in the day-to-day operations of the receiving, shipping and storing of the materials for the Repair Center by guiding material handlers with the replenishment of materials.

Essential Functions :

Maintain a clean and efficient warehouse.
Works and adheres to all safety policies within the work area and throughout the company.
Monitors loading, unloading, and checking of materials.
Records item numbers on un-identified materials.
Monitors and controls inventory levels to ensure appropriate availability and work in process levels.
Provides guidance and assists with on the job training of team members.
Communicates with Supervisors and Team Leads on material shortages and elaborates a fulfillment plan for those shortages.
Communicates with the Materials Supervisor on all daily functions, status of Materials Department, and Materials personnel.
Adheres to the company safety regulations and assists in the training and awareness of safety guidelines to new team members in the department.
Aids the department supervisor with daily work-load duties.
Performs other duties as required by management.

Education and Experience :

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

3-5 years of logistics / warehouse / distribution center experience required.

1-2 years of reach, sit down and stand-up forklift experience required.

Previous WMS experience highly preferred.

2+ years of supervisory experience over warehouse operations.

High attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Strong leadership abilities.

Teamwork oriented, solid supervisory experience.

Technically proficient with MS Office programs.

Physical Demands :

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.

The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision.

Work Environment :

The employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is available and encouraged.

The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

This position is a high-security position, and may pose a risk of exposure to criminal elements. Proper security training and awareness is required.
