Location

Lansing, MI. Hybrid schedule. Onsite from day 1, two days a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). No remote option.

Top Skills & Experience

  • 4–5 years experience with Sybase ASE 15.7 to SQL Server migration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and formal change control environments.
  • Unix background, developing CRON jobs, command-line experience.
  • Windows Server and SQL Server cluster, disaster recovery expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the current Sybase ASE environment (15.7 on Solaris).
  • Assist with the migration to a pure SQL Server platform over the next 3 years.
  • Handle on-call rotation (Saturday morning to Monday morning) after a learning period.
  • Perform weekly data fixes (Thursday and Friday) and after-hour implementations.
  • Work with development, test, and production environments for clusters and disaster recovery.

    • Qualifications

    Mid-Senior level contract DBA with experience in both Sybase and SQL Server, Unix and Windows Server environments, and migration projects.
