Responsibilities Work in a 54-bed Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit in an acute care setting Patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and some medical overflow cases Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 on days and 1 : 5-6 on nights Required to titrate drips including heparin gtts based on PTT Phillips telemetry monitors used with house-wide telemetry techs, nurses do not read own strips High flow O2 rarely used, primarily for stable COVID cases 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700) with every other weekend and holiday rotation Required to float in rotation with the rest of the staff within similar skill units Charting is done in EPIC; EPIC experience preferred Main responsibilities include nursing care of neurological and some medical overflow patients Drip titration and monitoring of neuro-specific interventions required Charge nurse and house supervisor on every shift, charge RNs do not take assignments except in extreme staffing situations Nurse aides / patient care techs support the unit with ratios up to 1 : 12 at night No scrub color requirement; tattoos must be covered and only ear piercings permitted Orientation is 2 days including unit-specific computer and precepted patient care COVID vaccination is not required for this assignment Local rates apply for clinicians residing within 50 miles, no radius rule for consideration Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required; copies of active certs must be provided Minimum 1 year of RN experience with prior travel nursing and dedicated neuro unit experience Level 1 trauma experience required Heparin drip titration experience required No first-time travelers will be considered Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625140.
