POSITION FUNCTION / OVERVIEW :

This position is responsible for providing medical care, treatment, and services. Working in conjunction with all other departments to ensure optimal medical services. This position will be looked upon to help evaluate and triage medical emergencies, as well as assist with intakes and stabilizing patients as deemed necessary.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

Promote the mission, values and vision of organization.

Provide excellent customer service for patients and patients; practice confidentiality and Privacy protocols in accordance HIPAA requirements.

Perform skilled assessments on all admissions, including, but not limited to :

COVID Screening and questionnaire

Consent for treatment, when indicated to provide stabilization services.

Create lab orders, draw labs for standing orders, spin, label and bag blood, when necessary.

Collect and log initial UAs

Nursing Screening and Assessment (Nurse Signature Required)

Pain Assessment

Initial Abbreviated Tx plan (Nurse Signature Required)

Nutritional Screening

Destruction of controlled substances

Self-Harm and Suicidal risk screening, safety contract

Fall Risk Assessment

HIV risk assessment and TB questionnaire

Detox ASAM (Nurse Signature Required)

IV stabilization, when indicated

Respond to medical emergencies on the floor and / or during intake, completing checks (Q’s / rounds) until patients are cleared from immediate observation.

Communicate significant medical data collected upon patients arrival

Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Able to respond calmly during an emergency

Perform and read EKG’s.

Triage all new intakes / admissions to ensure priority treatment / stabilization.

Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Current, Valid Paramedic license – Florida.

One (1) year experience with chemical dependency, addiction, psychiatric detox, and / or dual diagnosis substance programs, preferred.

Strong understanding of local, state and federal laws and guidelines.

Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards; preferred.

PowerPoint, Outlook, Electronic Medical Records, Billing Systems and / or other scheduling applications; KIPU preferred.

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

SKILLS :

Able to respond calmly during an emergency.

Energy and flexibility necessary to meet the changing needs of patients, staff and business needs.

Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of pain.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities.

Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information; high level of confidentiality.

Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills.

The ability to work accurately, with attention to detail.
