Summary :

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing multiple complex projects across MaineHealth, and provides leadership of high-priority strategic, system transformational, and large, complex initiatives. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for assembling project teams, identifying key stakeholders / project partners, driving organization change management, managing program risks, and tracking action items, issues, and key decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Act as a strategic consultant / advisor to a variety of senior and mid-level stakeholders / project partners during the initiative / project planning phase.
  • Oversee a portfolio of cross-functional projects utilizing project management best practices.
  • Support, lead, and influence the creation and execution of strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Use formal processes and tools to manage scope, resources, budget, schedule, risks and specifications from project initiation through project closure.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with key stakeholders, identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Facilitate the planning, implementation, and post-implementation phases of complex projects, typically involving multiple disciplines.
  • Determine the appropriate qualitative and quantitative measures to evaluate progress and successful implementation.
  • Mentor and coach other project managers on project management tools, techniques, and soft skills that enhance project management proficiency.
  • Assure compliance with all administrative, reporting, and documentation requirements for assigned projects.
  • Provide regular project updates, dashboards, and reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • License / Certifications : PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred. Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of complex project management leadership
  • Additional Skills / Requirements Required : Proficiency in project management tools.
  • Additional Skills / Requirements Preferred : Experience in managing cross-functional teams in a matrixed healthcare system.
