Purpose of Role

The Strategic Technology Architect is a hands-on role with experience in critical communication technologies with a clear understanding of AI and the evolving needs of public safety and utility customers. This role will shape Tait's future portfolio by identifying high-value technology opportunities and by validating these through proofs of concept and technical investigations. I will play a critical role in advising on integration strategy, technology partnerships, and next-gen communications architectures.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

  • Evaluate and prototype new technologies for potential integration into Tait's product and service portfolio.
  • Conduct internal and external POCs to validate feasibility, integration, and customer impact.
  • Track and analyse technology trends across the public safety and utility markets, identifying opportunities and risks.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams to align innovation initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Advise on architectural evolution, interoperability, and cloud-based or edge-native services.
  • Contribute to technical strategy development and support CTO-level presentations, roadmap sessions, and innovation planning.

  • Experience

    • Required :

  • 7+ years of experience in technology strategy, systems engineering, or product architecture within the critical communications sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of LMR, LTE, and 5G technologies - including their role in public safety and utility environments.
  • Familiarity with customer operational workflows in public safety, utilities, or transportation infrastructure.
  • Experience in defining, running, or contributing to POCs or technical assessments of new technologies.
  • Experience with cloud technologies.
  • Ability to think both strategically and practically - moving ideas from concept to validated prototype.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work across teams and engage with both technical and business audiences.
