JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE : CHILDCARE WORKER
DEPARTMENT : SERVICES
FLSA : NON-EXEMPT
LOCATION : BROOKLYN, NY
REPORTS TO : DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES
SALARY : $35000.00 - $ 38000.00 / Annual
SUMMARY : Creates and oversees developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants and young children.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
In conjunction with the recreation specialist, creates developmentally – age appropriate activities for young children that meet their physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs.
Assesses children’s developmental needs and plans appropriate activities for each child.
Document interactions with clients including any concerns or issues that arise during planned activities
Maintains safe, hygienic, well-organized environment at all times.
Provides monthly status for reporting procedures to supervisor.
Promptly reports possible child abuse or neglect to supervisor or Service Coordinator and calls in report when necessary.
Maintains adequate supply of formula, juice, healthy snacks, and emergency diapers and clothing.
Trains and supervises assistants and volunteers in developmentally-appropriate practices with children.
Supervises Assistant Teachers and volunteers.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS :
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Previous experience working with
young children are required.
