Opportunity :

The Product Development Engineering Intern position will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the company. This is a paid opportunity. Working on the Product Development team, you will collaborate with designers, product development engineers and product quality engineers to create our future line of fun, safe, innovative, and sustainable products.

Specific responsibilities include :

• Provide engineering support to the product design team by bringing sketches to life through CAD development, mechanism design, and rapid prototyping.
• Participate and contribute to brainstorm sessions to ideate on our future product concepts and product features across all categories including wagons, stroller wagons, trikes, scooters, ride-ons and eBikes.
• Prepare prototypes and participate in product testing with children to validate ergonomics and play value.
• Collaborate with engineers in the U.S. and overseas through email and conference calls to products are designed for manufacturability.
• Create product Bill of Materials to communicate design details, gather cost information, and evaluate the carbon footprint of our products.
• Execute in-house mechanical and electrical testing of new product concepts in our QA lab, then summarize data and share findings to drive decisions and improve product quality and durability.
• Evaluate products returned from retail partners and perform root cause analysis to recommend potential areas of improvement.

The pay range per hour is $19 - $26. Pay is based on responsibilities, skills / experience level, education, along with the Chicagoland area market, the consumer product industry, and company size. This internship may offer a relocation stipend for those who live outside of the Chicagoland area. Radio Flyer’s paid time off policies comply with the City of Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance.
