Job Summary

Responsible for assisting with the strategic development and implementation of the EHS program elements for the organization. Provides an additional level of EHS support for the location managers.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Assists with the development of EHS training and awareness materials including managing the relationships with training materials vendors and the development / upkeep of the EHS intranet site.
  • Interacts with regulatory agencies as it relates to citations, notices of violation, informal conferences, appeals, submittals, permit renewals, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Assists with the strategic development of trend analyses and metrics reports for the business units to drive down injury rates and improve compliance.
  • Assists with the analyses, development and implementation of processes that improve the effectiveness of the EHS programs.
  • Supports the EHS-related requests for information from the business units.
  • Works directly with the locations and Business Operations to develop materials for submittal to potential customers in their job bid processes.
  • Provides EHS-related training to location managers and associates as needed.
  • Reports suspected theft, burglary, and other Asset Protection (AP) related incidents to Senior Asset Protection Manager (APM) for investigation.
  • Supports EDC Manager with audit inspections from Fire Marshall.
  • Reports alarm and camera issues to Senior APM to schedule service.
  • Identifies workplace hazards and develops strategies to minimize risks.

Nature and Scope

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing / incomplete information and inconsistencies in more complex research / data.
  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and / or direct customers of the process.
  • May provide general guidance / direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.
  • Work Environment

  • Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing / walking and / or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
  • On-site required for Distribution Center located in Perris, CA
  • Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS / BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS / MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Distribution Center or Warehouse Employee Health and Safety (EHS) experience - REQUIRED
  • Experience with security and loss prevention - Desired
  • Audit experience in EHS compliance and Loss Prevention - Desired
  • Certified Safety Professional CSP - Desired
  • Basic skills in data analysis with Excel - Preferred
  • OSHA 30, 501, or 511 training - Preferred
  • Cal / OSHA experience - Preferred
  • 2-4 years of corporate environment experience
  • 2-4 years of leadership training experience
  • 2-4 years of policy writing experience
  • 15-25% overnight travel
  • Salary range : $67,400 - 97,800
