Job Description
Due to continued growth in 2025, Boswell is offering a unique opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to be Technical Lead for our Structural Team in our South Hackensack, NJ Headquarters. In this role you will work closely with our clients while leading & mentoring a team of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Draftsman, and support staff. This position will directly report to the Head of our Highway Design and Structural Engineering Department.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform structural analysis, design, and assessment of building structures
- Work closely with our new and reoccurring clients in preparation of upcoming projects
- Prepare detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports
- Lead subordinate staff on a day-to-day basis
- Ensure satisfactory performance of staff on specific projects
- Develop plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements
- Serve as Project Manager on select project assignments and monitor status of multiple projects
- Assist in Preparation of proposals and qualification statements for new contracts
- Manage client relationships and engagement with the clients
- Identify new clients and business development opportunities
- Work collaboratively with other departments and engineers on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects
- Assist as needed with inspection and design which requires both field and office work
- Lead and Mentor engineers and Project Managers
- Remain current in latest engineering techniques and practices
- Attend meeting outside of working hours if needed
- Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering with an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in either NJ or NY (both are preferred)15+ years of experience in structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures.Significant experience working with public agencies like Port Authority of NY and NJ, NJDOT, NJTA, NYC Transit, NYCDOT, and NYSDOTExperience working with New Jersey counties and municipalities is preferredComprehensive knowledge of codes, standards, and design guidelines (AASHTO, AREMA, ACI, AISC, NYC / NJ standards)Proficiency with structural analysis and modeling softwareFamiliarity with technologies such as BIMExperience with load rating, inspection, and rehabilitation of existing structuresExcellent verbal and written communication, including technical report preparation and editingStrong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage across departments and disciplinesCurrent US work eligibility is required.We recognize that the best way to provide services of the highest quality is by investing in our employees.
