Position Overview

The CNC Lathe Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and inspecting precision parts produced on CNC lathes. This role requires a strong understanding of G-code, setup processes, and precision measurement to ensure quality on every part produced.

Responsibilities

Set up CNC lathes for production runs using existing programs, modifying programs, or creating new ones as needed

Perform 100% inspection of each part directly off the machine to maintain strict quality standards

Operate Hardinge Super Precision machines with Fanuc controls, sub-spindles, and live tooling

Work with close tolerances and maintain high-quality standards throughout production

Adjust tooling, offsets, and machine settings for optimal performance

Required Qualifications

Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes (no milling duties)

Strong understanding of G-code

Proficient in the use of gage blocks, .0001” indicators, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment

Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances

Preferred Qualifications

Mastercam experience

Background in manual machining

Familiarity with CNC mills (not required for this position)

Experience with surface grinding and cylindrical grinding

Knowledge of ISO 9001 : 2015 quality systems
