Please visit our website at http : / / doh.sd.gov / for further information about the Department of Health.\n\nThe Bright Start Nurse Home Visiting Program is designed to promote the health and well-being of pregnant women, their infants and children to age 2. Bright Start enrolls first-time pregnant women prior to the 29th week of pregnancy and continues working with the family until the child reaches 2 years of age. This is a client-centered program in which the nurse works closely with the parent(s) to attain their goals in personal health (including prenatal, postpartum care and family planning), the maternal role, environmental health, life course development and relationships (friends and family). The nurse will guide, support and coach the family through different life and developmental stages through pregnancy, infancy and toddlerhood. The nurse will work to establish a therapeutic relationship with clients, assist them in setting and achieving goals to reach their 'heart's desire' and also promote economic self-sufficiency. The nurse will encourage the use of community resources to help clients achieve their goals and improve outcomes for the family as well as promoting the involvement of other family members and healthy support systems. Travel will be required within the Huron area for home visits and other duties related to the position. This nursing position will join a home visiting team providing this model (Nurse Family Partnership) in the same service area. Experience in Maternal Child Health and home visiting would be beneficial.\n\nLicenses And Certifications\n\nRegistered Nurse, minimum Associates Degree; Bachelors Degree strongly preferred.\n\nMust be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota\n\nThe Ideal Candidate Will Have\n\nWorked in public / community health, including home visitation.\n\nProvided maternal / child health services, particularly in community setting.\n\nWorked with diverse populations, communities, and organizations.\n\nThe ideal candidate must communicate effectively, demonstrate empathy and integrity, maintain professional knowledge, and adhere to standards of nursing practice. Candidate must have the knowledge, skills and abilities to work both autonomously and as a contributing and supportive member of a healthcare team. Must use sound judgement, analysis, and discretion within the framework of defined policies, procedures, and scope of practice. The ideal candidate will be organized, plan ahead, and set goals and priorities. Must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and families, co-workers, and community partners. The ideal candidate will work cooperatively with his / her team to help achieve Department of Health public health strategic goals, and will demonstrate a commitment to representing the Department of Health's mission, vision, and values.\n\nKnowledge Of\n
