Allied Universal Services is seeking the position of a Fire Lieutenant
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision and direction of the Fire Captain or Chief Officers, will serve as a Lieutenant assigned to a
Station responsible for leading a shift in carrying out a comprehensive fire and emergency services program to include protecting life and property by supervising and performing firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials mitigation, technical rescues, fire prevention, and public education duties. This position will interface with all levels of employees and management.

1. Be able to maintain logs and data collection reports as required by Caterpillar Inc.
2. Meet with client representatives as scheduled or as needed to provide assurance that all fire and life safety
requirements are being met and to provide quality customer service.
3. Be competent in computer skills including : Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft
PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, etc.
4. Be able to assume incident command of an incident until relieved by proper authority.
5. Plan and assign work, give instructions, maintain discipline, and make decisions relating to supervision
of the station, engine companies, and firefighters engaged in fighting, structural, or other fires,
flood control, hazardous materials incidents, emergency responses, technical rescue, and any other emergency
activities.
6. May occasionally perform minor maintenance on fire stations and apparatus at the direction of the Fire Chief or Station Captain.
7. Supervise projects related to resource management (inventory and obtaining specs of tools and equipment at the direction of the station captain or fire chief).
8. Shall be required to train personnel on site specific tasks.
9. May be required to drive and operate fire apparatus and power tools during emergency incidents and non-emergency project work.
10. Lead teams in the preparation and maintenance of fire pre-plans and the facility fire prevention plan.
11. Apply and enforce fire prevention and life safety codes.
12. Shall conduct fire prevention and education programs.
13. Issue fire and safety code corrective notices and make reports on origin and cause of fires.
14. Assist in fire department supervisory and administrative activities as assigned.
15. Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives by management.
16. Recommend selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration
of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO objectives.
17. Submit for interpretation and modification of performance standards.
18. Explain performance expectations to employees and provide regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
19. Hold employees responsible for completion of work assignments.
20. Appraise subordinate workers' performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques.
2 I. Hear and resolve employee complaints and refer serious unresolved complaints to higher level
management.
22. Recommend awards when appropriate.
23. Effect minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands, and recommend action in more
serious disciplinary matters.
24. Initiate action to correct performance or conduct problems.
25. Prepare documentation to support actions taken.
26. Identify employee development needs and provide or arrange for training (on and off duty) to
maintain and improve job performance.
27. Encourage self-development.
28. Ensure that all necessary positions are always staffed.
29. Recognize and take action to correct situations that pose a threat to the health or safety of subordinates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Education and Experience
meeting the NFPA 1010 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications training guidelines or possess
a Nationally recognized Firefighter II certificate or equivalent (Advanced Technical Firefighter) from a State Fire Marshal's office or from the Department of Defense adopted by the state where fire services are performed.
experience as a full-time fire officer on a municipal, county, state, Department of Defense, or industrial fire
department.
