Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist leads and drives environmental, health, and safety initiatives at the RNG facility, ensuring all operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, permit conditions, policies, procedures, and community commitments. Support a strong culture of environmental stewardship, compliance, and safety by fostering proactive relationships with plant management, employees, regulators, corporate teams, and community stakeholders.
Primary Duties
Working Relationships
The EH&S Specialist reports to the Plant Manager. Interface with contractor and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) personnel for the necessary support and coordination. Maintain a close working relationship with NAES corporate Environmental Support Services groups as well as Client corporate contacts.
Compensation
The initial compensation will range from $83,000 to $101,000

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Work is performed at an RNG facility involving anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading, and pipeline injection systems. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Duties may involve entering confined spaces, navigating narrow areas, and working around digesters, gas cleanup equipment, and pressurized systems. Exposure to odors, organic material, biogas (methane), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), hazardous chemicals, fumes, extreme temperatures, and elevated noise is possible. Outdoor work is required in varying weather conditions.
Some tasks require the use of PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, face shields, respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, and fall protection. Respirator fit testing may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply due to flammable gas presence.
The EH&S Specialist works a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule, ensuring consistent plant operation and support during regular business hours. With flexibility to accommodate site-specific needs or emergency response.
This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or "On call" status may also be required.
Travel is expected approximately 40%-50% of the time, including both planned site visits and ad hoc travel as safety needs arise.
Remote / hybrid role with proximity to regional sites preferred.
Fit for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

Respond to all safety-related incidents, including injuries, incidents, and near misses; write a report explaining what happened, identify the cause, and recommend corrective actions based on established business unit or division practices. Follow up as necessary to ensure corrective actions are taken.

Bachelors or better in Environmental Sciences or related field
Experience
Preferred
Experience in environmental compliance at an operating facility, with the ability to identify and implement strategies to reduce environmental and safety risks and costs.
Experience with industrial operations, including the interrelationship between anaerobic digestion processes, emissions, waste streams, and compliance requirements across both operations and maintenance.
Experience with federal and state environmental regulations related to air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management, with specialized expertise in at least one area (e.g., Title V, SPCC, SWPPP, or NPDES compliance).
