Associate Highway Design Engineer

Location : Indianapolis, IN

Schedule : Hybrid or In-Office Options Available

About the Role :

As an Associate Highway Design Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative team supporting the design and review of highway projects including new construction, reconstruction, and resurfacing. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to begin their engineering careers in a supportive environment with mentorship and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities :

Depending on your focus area (design or review), your responsibilities may include :

  • Assist in preparing design plans and drafting using MicroStation and Inroads.
  • Support the development of project quantities and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to solve technical challenges.
  • Participate in project meetings and scope reviews.
  • Interpret survey data and incorporate it into design plans.
  • Conduct field visits to verify existing conditions and design accuracy.
  • Review plans for compliance with standards and field conditions.
  • Stay current with design standards and practices through training and research.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and special projects as assigned.

    • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, etc.)
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Familiarity with highway design principles and CADD tools (MicroStation / Inroads preferred).
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.

    Pay : From $67,000.00 per year
