Overview

The Community Life Coordinator will work collaboratively with members of the Student and Residential Life team to oversee and manage all student activities and programming. This role will organize community service, service learning, and community engagement initiatives within the school. The ideal candidate is highly relational and skilled in fostering a positive and supportive student experience for boarding and day students. This position requires a person who is energetic, creative, highly organized, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator and has superb interpersonal skills. The Community Life Coordinator works closely with key members of the student life team to develop dynamic student activities programming and plays a key role in identifying, establishing, and nurturing partnerships with local organizations that address real-world human and community needs. The Community Life Coordinator will be an integral member of the Student and Residential Life team and is expected to live on campus. This position is fully benefits eligible. The pay range for this full time 12 month position is $52,000 to $65,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Maintain accurate rosters and schedules for after-school activities and events.
  • Manage all invoicing and financial transactions related to student activities and events.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of school-wide events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and community organizations to build partnerships and develop new opportunities for student involvement and engagement.
  • Coordinate transportation for students attending off-campus activities and events.
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of student and faculty volunteers to support Student Life activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Community Standards, Explorations, and Athletics, including scheduling appointments and maintaining files and records.
  • Work closely with the Residential Life team to integrate day and boarding students and programming.
  • Provide support for the Residential Life team, as necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and faculty to ensure that all stakeholders are informed about upcoming activities and events.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive school culture by fostering a sense of community among students.
  • Identify, establish, and nurture partnerships with local organizations to form connections for services and programs for the school.
  • Act as the point person for any questions directed from consumers inquiring about the NEIA community.
  • Partner with the Director of Curriculum & Professional Learning to integrate community service and engagement into the school's curriculum.
  • Implement learning and engagement experiences throughout the school by emphasizing importance and impact.
  • Support in developing the ongoing creative community calendar of events such as contests, spotlights, and broader marketing tie-ins.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of relevant community service and service-learning projects with staff, students, guardians, and community partners.
  • Manage the Community Impact Club utilizing community service, service learning, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with the Director of Community Standards, Explorations, and Athletics on setting policies and procedures for programs, activities, and operations.
  • Knowledge of community metrics and how they impact user engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required by the position and the school.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of non-profit or community engagement preferred.
  • Experience in an educational setting, preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role working with adolescents.
  • Experience living in a residential community preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with financial management and budgeting processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • High level of proficiency in Google Suite and Apple applications.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities and stressful situations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. Will be exposed to confidential information regarding students / staff / families; keeping information confidential is a priority.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, display a can-do attitude, and show initiative in a support role.
  • Thoroughly know, understand, and engage in meaningful discussions about the school's mission, values, and goals.
  • Personable and accountable to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Previous work experience in a school or camp setting is preferred.
  • Creative, critical thinker, and problem solver.
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive. Flag issues as they arise and either problem solve in the moment or inform relevant parties.
  • Willingness to engage with students and families with empathy and kindness.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    The Community Life Coordinator does not supervise any other NEIA staff.
