Michigan Licensed Inpatient Coder

A company is looking for a Remote Inpatient Coder.

Key Responsibilities

Extracts and analyzes clinical information to assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for hospital billing and compliance

Reviews medical records to ensure accurate assignment of MS-DRG or APR-DRG based on coding guidelines

Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Specialists to improve documentation and ensure coding accuracy

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Minimum one year of recent facility coding experience; three years for per diem candidates

High School Diploma / GED; Associate Degree in Health Information Technology / Management preferred

Must pass departmental coding test with 80% or better

Experience with computer-assisted coding and Microsoft Office preferred
