About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Mother Baby

Profession : Registered Nurse (RN)

Specialty : Mother Baby

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : 2 years in Mother Baby unit

License : RN license

Certifications : NRP, BLS (AHA), NIHSS

Must-Have :

• Must be comfortable with a 1 : 8 patient ratio
• Previous travel experience required
• Will not consider first-time travelers unless they have worked for at least 2 different organizations in the Mother-Baby unit

Description :

Compiles database and formulates nursing diagnoses.

Utilizes physical assessment and interviewing techniques.

Anticipates the need for intervention by other disciplines.

Determines priorities for patient care needs or problems.

Reassesses the patient as indicated by changes in condition and / or response to treatment(s).

Initiates and updates a written nursing plan of care for patients by incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles that support the nursing diagnosis.

Incorporates information obtained from nursing care planning conferences into the written nursing plan of care.

Coordinates with patients, families, significant others, and health team members in planning hospital and post-discharge care.

Performs clinical nursing skills independently.

Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments appropriately and accurately.

Initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary.

Appropriately delegates and coordinates the duties of ancillary personnel.

Communicates the patient's status and plan of care through written documentation in the patient's medical record.

Verbally communicates the patient's status to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Communicates in a therapeutic manner with patients, families, and visitors.

Applies teaching / learning principles in education of patients and families.

Manages daily patient assignments by appropriately setting priorities.

Delegates responsibility appropriately and monitors the nursing care delivered to patients by ancillary personnel.

Coordinates patient activities with other disciplines.

Develops, documents, and implements Patient Teaching and Discharge Planning Record.

Participates in established patient, family, staff, and / or student education programs.

Participates in clinical monitoring at the unit level.

Identifies unit, staff, and patient care problems and takes action or refers problems to appropriate resources when indicated.

May participate in activities of the RN with the exception of serving as a facilitator for the Nurse Residency Program.

If competent, may serve as a charge RN and monitor productivity / patient flow.

If competent, may precept new staff.
