Position Summary :
The Medical Assistant is responsible for managing patient flow within the clinic and assisting providers with the care and treatment of patients across all age groups, from infants to geriatrics. This role emphasizes collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, as defined by supervising providers and nursing leadership.
The Medical Assistant works under the direction of providers, clinic supervisors, and managers, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care while meeting departmental and organizational goals. Clear and timely communication with the healthcare team is a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities :
Clinical Care :
- Perform clinical and clerical tasks to support patient flow.
- Conduct standard rooming processes and patient intake.
- Administer immunizations, injections, and medications as directed.
- Collect laboratory specimens and conduct basic clinic lab tests.
- Provide telephone support and facilitate communication between patients and providers.
- Assist with prescription refills.
- Perform phlebotomy and x-ray duties (if certified).
Clinic Support :
Assist with the front desk and check-in as needed.Order and maintain clinic supplies.Support prior authorization processes.Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.Compliance & Professionalism :
Adhere to organizational compliance and code of conduct standards.Maintain confidentiality and protect patient and staff privacy.Report compliance concerns through appropriate channels.Follow all legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements.Education & Certification Requirements :
High school diploma or GED – Required.Graduate of an ABHES or CAAHEP accredited Medical Assistant program – Required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required.X-ray operator’s exam – Required or willingness to complete as needed.Experience & Skills :
