Mississippi State Hospital will accept curricula vitaes until 12pm Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for the purpose of hiring a Forensic Psychiatrist RFx : 3150006572 to serve as an attending and / or supervising physician providing care via telemedicine link to inpatient forensic psychiatric patients within Mississippi State Hospital as well as providing other physician services commonly associated with forensic service patients. Minimum qualifications : Active, unrestricted Mississippi License to practice medicine; active board certification in general psychiatry; active board certification in forensic psychiatry; previous experience (at least 3 years) as a unit director or equivalent; previous experience (at least 5 years) with high-risk seriously mentally ill (SMI) patients; previous experience (at least 5 years) supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners in inpatient settings; verifiable Doctor of Medicine Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from an accredited medical school; and an unrestricted DEA certificate. To be employed, the applicant must meet the credentialing requirements set forth in the MSH bylaws for appointment to the MSH medical staff. The applicant must also have satisfactory results from a criminal background check and drug screen. The average number of hours the contract worker will be expected to work will vary between 12 to 22 hours per week. The total number of hours worked by the contract worker will not exceed 1,144 hours per year. The contract rate will be $375.00 per hour. The contract period will extend from approximately January 7, 2025 - June 30, 2026.
