Overview
Instrumentation and Control Engineer, Level V role at Jobs via Dice. The position supports Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) as part of the AIS staff augmentation team for the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. This is a on-site role with responsibilities across engineering design, field support, and commissioning for instrumentation and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality detailed design packages and provide engineering procurement and field technical support to implement designs. Offer troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems.
- Prepare conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost estimates, bills of material, statements of work, design criteria, and Title II design deliverables including calculations, analyses, construction specifications, drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Collaborate as a team member on an integrated project team. Perform facility walkdowns to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.
- Apply technical expertise in electrical engineering with a primary focus on instrumentation / controls for process control and monitoring.
- Provide self-performed technical solutions using established engineering practices, codes and standards to address a wide range of problems.
- Perform field troubleshooting to inform design for corrective actions. Prepare conduit / cable schedules, plans, one-line diagrams, wiring / connection diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, sections / elevations / details, calculations, datasheets, and construction specifications.
- Develop control cabinet assembly drawings, system diagrams, and control logic for batch and continuous processes using analog instrumentation, DCS, and PLC / HMI systems.
- Develop process control system narratives, assist in software requirements, and contribute to Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. 5 years of instrumentation and controls design engineering experience; 20+ years of experience or an MS with 19+ years of experience.Minimum 5 years (10 years preferred) of experience with PLC and HMI programming for systems with analog and digital I / O. DOE Q clearance is required. If not, candidate must be currently Q cleared (or possess a TS clearance) with a recent clearance that could be reinstated.Experience with the National Electrical Code, UL508A, and ISA standards for instrumentation and controls design. Experience with Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, etc.) is preferred but not required.Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred but not required.Pre-employment drug screen and medical examinations may be required. This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance. If designated as a WSAP position, participation in ongoing random drug testing is required in addition to pre-employment screening.Job Details
