Environmental Services Lead

As a Lead, you'll guide team members, uphold quality and safety standards, and contribute to MSK's culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview :

  • Assign and oversee daily work assignments, adjust schedules as needed, and provide regular updates on team performance, equipment status, and inventory.
  • Oversee standardized cleaning procedures and ensure compliance with infection control and safety guidelines to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ensure accurate handling, containment, and disposal of general and infectious waste, including chemicals, following hospital procedures.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in chemical handling, including mixing, usage, storage, and labeling.
  • Lead by exampletraining and mentoring Environmental Services staff to maintain departmental standards and procedures.
  • Support departmental operations through participation in meetings, project assignments, and emergency response needs.
  • Cover assignments as needed, dedicating at least 50% of scheduled time to direct coverage responsibilities.
  • Provide occasional relief support at outpatient sites across NYC as required.
  • Play a key role in providing Waste Management support at the Koch Center.

Key Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of Environmental Services or Operations experience, ideally in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Prior lead, supervisory or progressive leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of infection control principles, cleaning procedures, and hospital safety standards.
  • Proven track record empowering and developing team members while fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to diverse audiences.
  • Proven reliability, sound judgment, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer literacy for communication, reporting, and training.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.

  • Location : 500 Westchester Ave, West Harrison
  • Schedule : Part-time; 20 hours per week
  • Every other Weekend and Rotating holidays
  • 5 shifts per week
  • Hours : 7pm-11pm
  • Reports to Supervisor, Environmental Services
  • Pay Range : $22.42 - $28.77 FSLA Status : Non-Exempt
