Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (Medical / Surgical) provides professional nursing care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code for Nurses . The RN serves as a clinical leader and partner on the interdisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care while supporting the organization’s mission and nursing philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver evidence-based patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Communicate, delegate, and direct nursing staff and ancillary team members effectively.

Ensure compliance with nursing standards, policies, and procedures.

Evaluate patient outcomes and modify care plans to achieve optimal results.

Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs.

Serve as a role model for professional accountability, teamwork, and ethical practice.

Maintain awareness of and compliance with safety, privacy, and infection control regulations.

Adapt to diverse patient populations and changing clinical environments.

Maintain knowledge of current nursing practices and participate in quality-improvement initiatives.

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of orthopedic or medical / surgical nursing experience required.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Louisiana (or compact state).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Preferred Experience

Certification in a clinical specialty area preferred.

Experience in acute or inpatient hospital settings.

Proven leadership and delegation skills within interdisciplinary teams.

Education

Required : Registered Nurse diploma

Preferred : Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Heavy Work : Exerting up to 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.

Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases .

May encounter hazardous medications or waste; PPE provided per hospital standards.
