Job Overview : We are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our Quality Team in the R&D Department at our Jasper, Indiana facility. As a member of our R&D Department, the Design Engineer is primarily responsible for designing automotive parts and tools, reverse engineering, developing prints, metrology, working with Quality, R&D, and Manufacturing team members. This position is onsite 5 days a week at our Jasper, Indiana Headquarters facility.
Key Responsibilities :
- Reverse engineer parts and tools and implement design improvements
- Perform solid modeling and creation of drawings.
- Establish / maintain vendor relations, including identifying part improvement opportunities with potential vendors.
- Provide technical support to internal departments including Production, Quality, and Purchasing.
- Aid in the evaluation of sample parts from vendors.
- Provide periodic project updates, and must be open to additional training / application opportunities.
- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Some light duty lifting is required (up to 35 pounds) and using a hoist for heavy lifting to cut metal and install and remove tooling and work pieces from the machine.
- Simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling, finger dexterity, foot movement, bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching are all required at times.

Organized, detailed, and focused.The ability to follow instruction and communicate clearly.Proficient with using 3-D modeling software (Solidworks and Creo).The ability to independently manage projects.The ability to accomplish assigned tasks within allocated time frame.Intermediate knowledge and ability to use precision measuring instruments. Instruments include but are not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, scales, and CMM / Faro-arm / Metra-Scan .Adaptable to changing work environments, competing demands, and be able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.Follow all safety policies and procedures.BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent preferredSalary and Benefits :
