Job Description :

This is a twelve (12) month staff position. Provides oversight of day-to-day simulation center operations with faculty / staff supervision. Strategically plans and facilitates simulation, utilization, growth and effectiveness in collaboration with nursing faculty related to student success. Management, strategic planning and budgeting for the Simulation Resource Center. Works with other university administrators in the following areas : Strategic and financial planning and budget development, financial management and accountability (forecasting / compliance / control), and implementation of programs to support all aspects of the simulation program and initiatives. Analyzes budget performance reports and tracks internal progress as well as forecasts simulation expenses. Participates with faculty and staff for simulation curriculum development. Works in collaboration with University faculty to create and refine simulation scenarios involving standardized patients and high and low fidelity simulation equipment. Reviews and finalizes simulation support materials, as well as case-specific checklists / rating scales.

Demonstrates the ability to exercise discretion and ensure a high-level of confidentiality especially as it pertains to HIPAA and FERPA. Operates with minimal supervision, highly motivated and self-directed; ability to meet deadlines and manage stressful situations.

Understands the use and operation of various simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen-based simulations to full body patient simulators. Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, including basic theory, design and implementation; knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy / physiology. Ability to apply principles and critical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, to interpret a variety of instructions or inquiries furnished in written and / or oral form, and to acquire knowledge of topics related to health sciences and health in general. Ability to assess, troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures and software updates in a timely fashion; ability to work well under pressure, set priorities and make critical decisions; strong analytical and problem solving skills with creativity and flexibility in designing innovative approaches to solving complex problems. Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of an inter-disciplinary team with limited supervision; strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of work related information is required. Ability to use sound independent judgment, effective coordination, prioritization and planning skills. Strong computer skills including expertise using Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and utilization of various online calendars (Oracle, Google, Outlook); proficiency with a variety of simulation equipment, hardware, software and models; working knowledge of computer functionality, telecommunications, audio and video equipment; Ability to quickly learn cutting-edge new technologies and provide training to faculty, staff and students; Working knowledge of computer functionality, telecommunications, audio and video equipment. Proficiency in the operation of simulation equipment including Manikins. Experience with or willingness to learn Laerdal, Gaumard, SimuLab and other simulation systems and equipment. Strong written communication skills; able to communicate verbally and write professional reports and summaries in a clear, logical and effective way.

Professional, pleasant demeanor with customer focused positive attitude. Able to verbally communicate in an effective and professional manner with supervisors, co-workers, faculty, staff, vendors, and students within the Department of Nursing and other University departments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES : Master's Degree in Nursing Education and / or Certification in Simulation (Simulation Educator Leader III); CHSE : Certified Health Simulation Educator eligible or equivalent.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE : Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure to practice in a compact state; minimum 3-5 years of nursing practice, teaching or equivalent experience.
