The Southeast Civil division of OHLA USA, specializes in the construction, modernization, and expansion of highways, roadways, interchanges, and toll facilities across Florida. The Assistant Project Manager Civil supports the Project Manager and Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and executing heavy civil construction projects. This role helps ensure that roadway and infrastructure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements, while maintaining OHLAs high standards of safety and quality.
Responsibilities :
Project Support & Coordination
Assist the Project Manager in overseeing all phases of assigned roadway and civil construction projects from start to completion.
Help prepare, review, and track project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
Support coordination between field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Participate in project meetings with clients, DOT representatives, consultants, and subcontractors.
Scheduling & Field Oversight
Assist with preparation and monitoring of project schedules.
Work closely with the Superintendent to track daily field activities, production rates, and resource allocation.
Help identify schedule impacts and support corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Cost Control & Reporting
Assist in monitoring project costs, forecasts, and budgets.
Support preparation of monthly reports, progress billings, and cash flow projections.
Track material quantities, labor hours, and equipment usage to support accurate reporting and cost control.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Promote OHLA USAs safety culture and support enforcement of site-specific safety plans and OSHA compliance.
Assist with quality control checks to ensure work meets contract specifications and DOT standards.
Support documentation and coordination for inspections, testing, and compliance reporting.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain professional communication with clients, consultants, and agency representatives (e.g., FDOT).
Build positive working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Support project managers in meeting client requirements and addressing concerns.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required).
5+ years of experience in civil / heavy highway construction (internship experience may be considered).
Familiarity with FDOT specifications and roadway construction practices strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, and project management processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and construction software such as Primavera P6, Procore, or similar.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with field teams and clients.
OSHA 30-hour certification preferred or ability to obtain within 30 days.
