Valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate, NT endorsement or Michigan School Counselor license
Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling is preferred and will be paid at MA+30 pay scale
Teaching or counseling experience at the secondary level is preferred
Experience with Student Information Systems
Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff
Possess strong interpersonal skills, advanced problem-solving approaches and a strong desire to promote student success
Strong organizational skills
Support the social, emotional and academic needs of a caseload of approximately 350 students
Perform credit audits, update transcripts to verify students have met the state and district graduation requirements
Exercise the use of crisis intervention strategies
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
Provide academic support to all students and be involved with students who require accommodation provided through IEPs, 504s or other special needs
Assist with end of the year activities related to graduation and honors convocation
Assist with any state and building-wide assessments as required for student graduation
Work with at-risk populations by identifying students early and providing appropriate support to student achievement
Actively participates in a diverse learning community that embraces acceptance and supports students' emotional and social growth
Participate in all building / district professional development.
Consult and collaborate effectively with parents / guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational / community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs
