Position Overview

We are hiring several Estimators to support our Kiewit Building Group in the Vertical market. We are looking for individuals with a few years of estimating under their belt for engineering / construction projects, who are passionate about project planning, risk management and detail-oriented work, and who want to grow their career in estimating and preconstruction engineering. You will work with seasoned estimators, supporting various design / build estimates for projects around the East coast, for vertical buildings that include new construction, modifications or upgrades for various types of buildings including government, historical, mixed-use / commercial, higher education, healthcare, sports facilities, large private healthcare, hotels, and high-rises.

District Overview

Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, including office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and interior construction with tenant improvements. Capabilities include general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.

Location

You will be required to work in our Springfield, Virginia office.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs.
• Review owner plans and specifications to understand the project and develop a plan for construction to serve as the basis for the estimate.
• Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates.
• Review bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions.
• Conduct site investigations prior to forming a plan of operations to identify problems or unusual conditions.
• Utilize engineering techniques and procedures to conduct investigations and adhere to company policy and procedures.
• Perform design work as required by the project beyond the estimator scope; handle major technical problems during bid preparation.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and developments, including new equipment, methods and procedures.
• Become proficient in Kiewit's estimating program, InEight Estimate.
• Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection.
• Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions.
• Consult with owners on problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.

Compensation

Base Compensation : $94,767 - $120,000

(Actual compensation varies by education, experience, skillset, and location)
