Responsibilities
The Counseling and Testing Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking a qualified and compassionate Counselor to support the emotional and psychological well-being of students. This position provides individual, couples, family, and group counseling, conducts psychosocial assessments, and develops treatment plans to meet the diverse needs of the university community. The Counselor also plays a vital role in outreach, consultation, training, and crisis response efforts in alignment with the mission of the Counseling and Testing Center and the Division of Student Affairs.
- Provide individual, marriage / couples, family, and group counseling services to students.
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and design individualized treatment plans.
- Respond to and manage crisis intervention situations, including after-hours calls as needed.
- Plan, develop, and implement outreach and educational programming that promotes student development and mental health awareness.
- Consult with student organizations, faculty, and staff on matters related to mental health, student behavior, and well-being.
- Maintain active membership in professional associations and ensure current licensure and certification in accordance with state and professional regulations.
- Supervise and mentor paraprofessional staff and graduate trainees participating in clinical training programs.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and other collaborative efforts that support the mission of the Counseling and Testing Center.
- Perform additional duties and services that contribute to the overall goals of the Counseling and Testing Center and the Division of Student Affairs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Master's degree in counseling or related discipline.Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Louisiana.Preferred Qualifications :
Supervised training experience at the graduate or postgraduate level.Skills, Abilities, Etc.
Ability to understand the person in the context of a diverse social / cultural milieu.Candidates with post-degree experience who exhibit attributes that enable them to maintain effective interpersonal relationships and communicate with a wide range of university students, faculty, staff, and administrators is considered a plus.J-18808-Ljbffr
