We are seeking a dedicated Locum Tenens General Surgeon to provide ongoing support for a facility near Brooklyn, Iowa. This opportunity involves both clinic hours and surgical call coverage, with a variety of cases in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Position Details :

Location : Near Brooklyn, IA
Start Date : December 1, 2024
Schedule :

Clinic Days : Tuesday & Thursday, 9 : 00 AM 4 : 00 PM

Operating Room : Monday & Wednesday, 7 : 00 AM up to 3 : 00 PM, depending on volume

Call Coverage : 10 days of 24-hour call coverage per month

Patient Volume : Approximately 20-25 patients per clinic shift

Facility Requirements :

Practice Setting : Both inpatient and outpatient

Admissions Required : No

EMR System : MediTech / Athena

Privileges : Temporary privileges are available for quick onboarding

Board Certification : Candidates must be board-eligible, but board certification is not required

Skills & Procedures :

This position encompasses a comprehensive range of general surgery procedures, including but not limited to :

General Surgery : Appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and hernioplasties

Vascular Surgery : Peripheral vascular repairs and bypasses

Pediatric Procedures : Hernia repairs, abdominal wall defect repairs

Trauma Procedures : Thoracic, abdominal, and vascular trauma management

Additional Surgical Skills : Laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower GI endoscopies, minor orthopedic procedures, chest tube insertion, and ventilation management

Certification Requirements :

Licensure : Must hold an active IA license or qualify for an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)

Certifications : ABLS, ACLS, and BLS
