Medical Director, Pathology / Transfusion Medicine - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ
RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, are seeking a Medical Director of Pathology / Transfusion Medicine to provide leadership and expertise in transfusion medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. This position offers an opportunity to guide clinical operations, advance research, and play a central role in medical education within New Jersey's largest integrated health care delivery system.
The minimum salary for this position if hired to work is $270,000 per year. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
Posting Summary
The Transfusion Medicine Medical Director will hold a crucial leadership role in maintaining patient safety, regulatory compliance, and advancing transfusion medicine practices within RWJMS and RWJUH. This faculty member will serve as both collaborator and leader of the multidisciplinary transfusion team at RWJMS and RWJUH; will actively participate in the educational programs of the Department, including teaching medical students and residents; and will be expected to engage in productive research activities.
The Division is responsible for Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) - the school's 650-bed tertiary care core teaching hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and academic experience.
Position Highlights
Lead and collaborate with the multidisciplinary transfusion medicine team
Oversee transfusion medicine and blood banking services at RWJUH
Ensure patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in transfusion practices
Teach and mentor medical students and residents in pathology and transfusion medicine
Contribute to departmental research initiatives and scholarship
Collaborate with institutional and system-wide leadership to advance transfusion medicine practices
Requirements
MD, DO, or MBBS degree required
Board certification or board eligibility in AP / CP
Board certification in Blood Banking / Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology
Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey
