Registered Nurse – CVICU Travel Position

Location : Wausau, WI

Job Type : Travel Contract

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 3x12s

Pay : $2,325 / week

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Wausau, WI on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide specialized care to patients recovering from complex cardiovascular procedures and those with critical cardiac conditions requiring intensive monitoring and interventions. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in advanced cardiovascular care and thrives in high-acuity ICU settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct and continuous nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients.
  • Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, and cardiac rhythms, responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced cardiac treatments as prescribed.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitoring devices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiac surgeons, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and ongoing care.
  • Maintain adherence to infection control protocols, ICU safety guidelines, and evidence-based cardiovascular care practices.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid RN license in Wisconsin (or compact eligibility).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent CVICU or critical care nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); CCRN preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and high-acuity environments.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
