SUMMARY : Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager / Director (or designee) implements, supervises and evaluates the nursing care of each patient undergoing an emergency until the patient is stabilized or transitioned to the appropriate level of care. Utilizes the nursing process in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and with consideration of the aging process throughout the Brown University Health, including all developmental stages, as well as cultural patterns. The core Success Factors include : Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES : PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Provides direct patient care. Provides leadership by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement. Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community services regarding the patient care outcome / discharge planning. Assesses and provides appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs. Participates in departmental quality improvement and research activities. Utilizes all available resources to provide quality, cost effective patient care. Meets and maintains clinical competencies measured by pre-determined credentialing standards, mandatory / safety education, and completion of Basic Life Support and ACLS. Identifies growth needs and participates in educational opportunities and professional organizations. Serves as a role model / preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel. Responds to emergency situations (Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code Stroke, Code Triage) as delegated by Nursing Leadership to provide critical care assessment and interventions to manage patients in decline until they can be transitioned to the appropriate level of care. Provides critical care nursing consultation to areas as delegated by Nursing Leadership. Provides critical care nursing support to areas as delegated by Nursing Leadership. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.BASIC KNOWLEDGE : 1. Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.2. Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.3. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.UNIT SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS : Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of RI. BSN preferredCertified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.Minimum three years of current clinical experience in critical care nursing, including responding to cardiac arrests and clinical emergencies, in a hospital setting required.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : 1. Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status.2. Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients.3. Exposed to patient care environment.4. Physical ability for extensive walking and standing; lifting, positioning, and pushing patients on stretchers.UNIT SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Must have full range of body motion.Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and color vision.Must be able to speak and hear clearly.Must have the ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lean, and squat for long periods of time without hindrance.Must be able to maintain dexterity when pulling, pushing, and gripping carts and stretchers.Must be physically able to perform CPR.Must perform all physical job duties accurately in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruption.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None.

Pay Range

$34.52-$58.24
